About the Pepenauts

Pepenauts is the Argonauts read again as frogs. It shares its world and most of its wardrobe with them — the same palettes, the same beanies and shades and pipes, the same gold relic — worn by an eroded frog bust instead of a skeleton. Where the Argonauts call the material Bones, Pepenauts calls it Skin, and where an Argonaut is plain Bone a Pepenaut is plain Pepe. The other eight materials keep their names in both.

Where it lives

Unlike the Argonauts, the Pepenauts are not stored on chain. The contract's tokenURI returns an Arweave address, and the artwork is a PNG kept there. Arweave is permanent storage, so the files are not going anywhere — but the contract holds a pointer rather than the picture.

Two things follow, and they are the reason this section is shorter than the Argonauts one. There is no live render to make: the images you see are loaded from Arweave exactly as any other site would load them. And there is no version history: the collection has emitted no metadata-update event and has no renderer to swap, so there is nothing to compare a past state against.

The same wardrobe

Pepenauts shares most of its vocabulary with the Argonauts — the same palettes, the same beanies, shades, pipes, cloaks and gold relic. What the Argonauts call Bones, the Pepenauts call Skin, and where the Argonauts have a bare Bone the Pepenauts have a Pepe. The remaining eight materials carry the same names in both.

Two differences beyond that. There is no Fate here, because nothing has been burned. And it still uses THC Vape, a value the Argonauts retired when that trait was split into flavours — so the same pipe is called two different things depending on which collection you are looking at.
